VIDEO: Tom Vialle and his nasty crash
The MXGP circus took to the wavy and shallow sands of the Tazio Nuvolari Circuit in Mantova for the second race of the season. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Tom Vialle took his third top three finish of the year, but suffered an unprecedented crash in the second series.
Vialle finished 2nd in the first MX2 round in Italy but crashed in round two and dropped out of the top of the rankings. The Frenchman is now in 4th place. The crash on the jump was very spectacular.
The Frenchman, who finished second in Great Britain last week, took second place in the qualifying heat on Saturday and then used the power of his engine to make two good starts on Sunday. Vialle had no answer to Jago Geerts' speed in the first race, but was in the lead in the second until an error on the jump dismount pushed him back in the rankings.
Vialle was catapulted over the entire length of the jump, but without his KTM. However, the very spectacular crash ended well. Vialle was able to continue his journey without any physical discomfort or engine defects. He managed to finish 21st.
