Lynn Valk strikes the first blow in Mantova
The first round of the FIM WMX World Championship was won by Lynn Valk. The Yamaha rider managed to take the lead from reigning champion Courtney Duncan on the second lap, after which she took control of the race. Nancy van de Ven completed the success in Mantova for the KNMV by crossing the finish line second ahead of Duncan. Amandine Verstappen finished fourth ahead of Norwegian debutant Martine Hughes. Shana van der Vlist finished sixth, Britt Jans-Beken finished sixteenth ahead of Danee Gelissen.
