Kay Karssemakers about his GP debut
A week later than planned, Kay Karssemakers has made his debut in the FIM MX2 World Championship. The 17-year-old rider managed to hold his own in the international field. By crossing the finish line seventeenth and fifteenth, he immediately managed to score ten points. A very good start for the KTM rider who looks back on the race on the Matterley Basin circuit.
Kay Karssemakers:
“Saturday went very well and I managed to place 16th for the competitions. The start of the first moto was great, I was in tenth place for a while before dropping back to twelfth place. Halfway through the race I made a mistake that dropped me to fifteenth place. In the last lap I leave the track for a moment and unfortunately that costs me two places. I immediately received my first GP points. The start in the second moto is not as good and from 17th place I manage to climb to thirteenth place. Unfortunately I lost two more places in the last ten minutes, but fifteenth place is good. With ten points I am very satisfied with my debut.”
