Flanders wins the first DMofMX 500cc
After almost four years, Calvin Vlaanderen has won another competition of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross. The Yamaha rider won in Arnhem by crossing the finish line first and second. For Flanders' last victory we have to go back to 2018, when he won the final in Lichtenvoorde, the 250cc race. Brian Bogers (3-1) finished second ahead of Glenn Coldenhoff (2-3).
1e some
In training, Flanders is narrowly the fastest, but in the sprint to the first corner he has to bow to Coldenhoff. The 31-year-old rider takes the lead for Bogers and Flanders. A number of riders crash, but none of the big names. In the initial phase Brent Van Doninck is able to keep the trio in front of him in view, but he disappears from the race due to machine bad luck. Adam Sterry briefly comes into fourth place, but the Brit cannot give Micha Boy de Waal any resistance. When the Ties Pol Motors rider comes in fourth place, the top three have already disappeared from view. The first to make a mistake is Bogers and the Eindhoven native drops back to third place. Flanders increases the pressure on Coldenhoff who cannot make a fist against the Gebben-Van Venrooy-Yamaha rider. Flanders manages to break away from Coldenhoff by 24 seconds in the second half of the race. He comes second ahead of Bogers, De Waal and Sven van der Mierden completes the top five in this first round of the season.
2e some
When the starting gate falls for the last time today, everything seems to be going well, but after two laps a red flag follows. After an interruption, the second heat starts again and Bogers takes the victory. The Standing Construct rider wins the race in 15 minutes and a lap ahead of Flanders and Coldenhoff. Arminas Jasikonis did not finish the first heat, but in this race the tall Lithuanian finished fourth ahead of De Waal.
Next time:
The championship will continue on Easter Monday and will be held on April 18 at the Oldebroek circuit.
