Jo Shimoda no fractures, just a crack
Jo Shimoda crashed hard last weekend when he tried to take the lead on the last lap of the Heat race. The Kawasaki rider did not participate again for the rest of the evening, but after further investigation it became clear that there were no fractures. The Team Pro Circuit rider has a crack in his foot that has caused him to be put in a plaster cast. The Japanese loses fourth place in the standings to Vince Friese, who finished second in Angel Stadium. The EastCoast starts next week and Mitch Payton's team will field three riders. Austin Forkner, Cameron McAddo and rookie Jett Reynolds.
Hunter Lawrence and Jalek Swoll both also suffered serious injuries, but fortunately both escaped with some abrasions and bruises.
