Jeremy Van Horebeek and Beta showed strong pace in Riola Sardo
The Beta SDM Corse team, the official representative of the Italian brand in the MXGP Championship with Jeremy Van Horebeek and Alessandro Lupino, has made a positive assessment of its first outing of the season. This weekend Van Horebeek and his Beta 450 RX showed great speed in the sand of Riola Sardo against some of the main protagonists announced for the next MXGP championship.
Last season the focus was on refining the Beta 450 that he introduced last year in the MXGP. Jeremy Van Horebeek rode his first race with the new machine on Sunday in the second round of the Italian championship.
Sixth in the morning training, the Belgian rider got off to a good start in the MX1 race and was soon able to move up a few places to fourth. In the last minutes he was very fast and in the last laps he managed to close the gap to Forato to take third place and climb onto the last step of the class podium after Gajser and Prado.
“The hard work Jeremy has put in over the past few months is paying off,” said team manager Daniele Marchese, “A podium finish on our first ride of the year gives us the motivation we need to enter the MXGP season with confidence.” to go. It's a shame he had a problem with his rear brake in the Superfinal, because he started well again..."
In the Superfinal, Van Horebeek had started just behind Gajser and Prado when a rear brake problem caused by sand forced him to pit. The official Beta driver came into the race very late, but nevertheless completed the rest of the race to gain more experience on his 2022 machine.
Van Horebeek and his teammate Alessandro Lupino, who is concentrating on completing the tests of the new machine, will be at the start of the first round of the MXGP season in Great Britain on February 19 and 20, at the circuit of Matterley Basin.
