Jason Anderson takes victory in Anaheim 3
The switch from Husqvarna to Kawasaki has clearly done Jason Anderson good. In Anaheim, the 2018 champion won the sixth round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 450SX. At Angel Stadium, Anderson won ahead of Eli Tomac and Justin Barcia. Chase Sexton finishes seventh and loses second place in the standings to Anderson, who is now twelve points behind Tomac.
Like an arrow from a bow, Anderson takes off when the starting gate goes down. Tomac follows ahead of Shane McElrath, Cooper Webb and Malcolm Stewart. There are problems for Ken Roczen who goes too wide coming out of the first corner and ends up in the "tuff block" after which he gets off the bike. Marvin Musquin makes a nice move in the second corner, taking third place.
Tomac follows Anderson like a shadow and in the third lap the leader in the standings starts the attack. He seems to be taking over the lead, but the Kawasaki rider is not going to let himself be taken for granted. Anderson regains the lead, then 'El Hombre' no longer relinquishes the lead and he wins his second of the season. Tomac comes second ahead of Barcia who manages to get behind Musquin due to a fall by the Frenchman who gets into trouble due to a straggler. Stewart comes fourth ahead of Musquin and his compatriot Dylan Ferrandis, who had to qualify for the final through the last chance.
The championship continues next week in Minneapolis.
