Craig goes into the break with a wide lead
After six rounds of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 250SX West, this championship is going on a break. Perhaps not ideal for Christian Craig because the Yamaha rider is in great shape! In Anaheim he won his fourth of the season and due to a fall by Hunter Lawrence, the Star Racing rider goes into the break with a 28-point lead.
A very good start for Lawrence but Vince Friese wins the Holeshot Award ahead of Lawrence, Craig and Michael Mosiman. Chris Blose follows in fifth place ahead of Jalek Swoll. However, it is Craig who quickly works his way into the lead and has the best position after three corners. Lawrence tries to find out the leader in the standings, but without success. Mosiman made a mistake and lost a lot of places while Swoll also fell. The Husqvarna rider makes a mistake on the washboard and takes Nate Thrasher and Derek Kelly with him.
At the front, no one can compete with 30-year-old Craig, who quickly takes a two-second lead. The 22-year-old Australian tries everything to stay there after the Honda rider made a mistake in the first half of the race. Friese takes over second place while Mosiman is already in third place. This completes the podium and we see that Craig is the only rider with six podium places in as many races.
Garreth Marchbanks wins his Heat race but he faces a problem in the early stages of the final. The ClubMX rider finished fourth ahead of Carson Brown.
Next week the championship moves to the EastCoast with the match in Minneapolis. The 250SX West returns to action on March 26 in Seattle.
