Mugen will participate in the FIM E-Xplorer
At the end of 2017, we learned that Honda and Mugen, long-time partners, were collaborating on an electric dirt bike project. It is now almost 5 years later and the project is still on schedule. The machine called “E.Rex” should even participate in competitions this season, in the new FIM E-Xplorer World Cup series, the world cup reserved for electric machines.
Years passed and we almost lost sight of Mugen's project. In the meantime, several new machines have been announced, such as the EMX Pro or more recently the promising one Strong Wolf. The new electric Mugen now has an even sharper line and of course features that are very close to the electric CR that has now been unveiled by Honda.
The Japanese manufacturer is therefore planning to take an important step forward by entering its E.Rex into competition this year, after gaining experience on the road by participating in the Isle of Man electric TT with its Shinden model. The FIM E-Xplorer World Cup schedule is yet to be announced. This electric motorcycle competition is expected in the third quarter of 2022. Mugen is registered as M-TEC.
Last week, Stark Future announced that they too plan to enter their machine in competition this year, with the ambition to compete against the 450 four-stroke machines from the French, Italian, AMA and even MXGP championships.
