The Carli Racing from KTM to GasGas!
The noises have been there for some time but now it is official. Claudio De Carli's De Carli Racing Team switches from KTM to GasGas. This means that the Spanish brand of the KTM group immediately has a Spanish superstar in the person of Jorge Prado!
In addition to Jorge Prado in the MXGP, Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing The Carli Racing from KTM to GasGas also brings Mattia Guadagnini and Simon Längenfelder into position in the MX2. Rookie Guadagnini was the sensation in MX2 this season. Längenfelder switches from Diga Procross where he already rode on GasGas.
Jorge Prado: “As a Spaniard, it is very special for me to play for GASGAS with its Spanish roots. I can't wait to ride in my new colors in February. It's perfect for me to start the season early because I prefer racing and I already feel great on the new bike. That's why I'm really looking forward to the first GP. I have learned so much during the last two seasons in MXGP and I feel that I can still improve my level in 2022. It certainly won't be easy and I will have to compete against some of the best drivers in the world who have much more experience, but I feel ready to compete again. With what I have learned over the past two years, I think I can be more consistently at the front and I am excited to start the new season.”
Mattia Guadagnini: “I am very excited for the 2022 season. It is great to be part of Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing from now on. The new colors are great and the set up looks great! It's great to stay within the same team structure because it's like one big family and that's very important to me. All the hard work of the past year paid off because in 2021 I had such a great season, better than I expected. It was certainly an excellent year and with another winter together I think we can be even better in 2022 on the new GASGAS engines. The first round is not far away now and I'm really looking forward to getting started again in Matterley Basin. It is one of my favorite tracks and this is where I won my very first MX2 race, which gives me good memories of this track. It would be great to start the season there with a strong result and carry that momentum into the rest of the year.”
Simon Langenfelder: “New team, same colors! It's super exciting for me to continue on GASGAS. With the support and guidance of this experienced team, I believe I can really make progress in the MX2 World Championship. I've been spending a lot of time in Italy with my new teammates lately and everything has been really positive. I'm really enjoying this new environment and team structure. The off-season is not as long as last year, but I can definitely improve. One thing I will work on is my speed. Particularly to be faster during the opening laps because the intensity after dropping from the starting gate is so high. But overall the future looks very good, and I think 2022 will be the year where my results will reach the next level.”
Claudio de Carli – Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing team manager: “It is an exciting step and a great honor to lead GASGAS in the MXGP next season. With the riders we have, Jorge, Mattia and Simon, I am convinced that we can fight for both the MXGP and MX2022 world titles in 2. There are just over two months to go before the first round in February and we are already ahead of schedule to be ready for the opening match in England. We have three very talented riders and from a technical point of view I know we have the best bikes around. It's the start of a new chapter and the team can't wait to start the new season with a completely new look.”
Robert Jonas – VP Motorsports Offroad: “The GASGAS project has been an exciting adventure from the very beginning. From 2022, GASGAS will be even stronger in the Motocross World Championship. Concentrating racing efforts into one team, with three incredibly talented riders in MXGP and MX2, is a positive step for everyone involved. Furthermore, it is a move that we believe will further establish GASGAS as one of the strongest teams in the championship. There will be a short off-season in the run-up to the 2022 Motocross World Championship, but we know the team and riders will be more than ready for the first round in February!”
