Motocross regulations 2022: these are the most important changes!
The KNMV has announced the motocross regulations for 2022. A number of changes have been made to these regulations compared to the previous regulations. In this article we explain what the most important changes are for you as a motocross rider.
In the recent period, two expert groups have been put together to discuss the KNMV motocross regulations for 2022. One group was specifically aimed at solo competitions (consisting of: Karl Timmerman, Marcel Doensen, Martijn Spliethof, Stefanie van de Meeberg, Stefan Braken, Barry Forschelen, Jan Klein Brinke) and the other group in the sidecar and quad competitions (consisting of: Roger van de Lagemaat, Joe Maessen, Vincent Grondman, Dènis van Wee, Jeroen Gelmers, Twan Verbakel, Patrick te Veldhuis, Jan Klein Brinke, Benjo Kellerman). In this way, a result could be achieved efficiently for all competitions.
The most important changes to the 2022 regulations are as follows:
– Registration for participation in the Dutch Masters of Motocross is exempt for all ONK license holders in the relevant class and foreign license holders. Qualification via the ONK competition will therefore be cancelled.
– No ONK 2022cc competition will be organized in 50. Given the low number of competitors in the KNMV and DMX competitions in the 50cc class, it has been decided that this class will not be included in the KNMV competition for 2022. The class will continue to exist in the DMX competitions.
– The two supervisors who may assist the youth classes with the starting procedure will be determined in advance by the KNMV for each competition. This will be rotated.
– An adjustment will be made to the times for free and time training at the ONK Sidecar and Quad Masters. In 2022, this will increase to ten minutes for the free training and fifteen minutes for the timed training. The initial training for these classes will be cancelled.
– The ONK Sidecar and Quad Masters classes will receive one elimination result next season. The NK Sidecar and Quad classes go to two elimination results.
– The driving time of the NK Sidecar and NK Quads will increase to twenty minutes plus one lap.
– The top three of the NK Sidecar and NK Quads are required to be promoted to the ONK, this arrangement applies immediately. The numbers one, two and three from the championships held in 2021 should therefore be promoted to the ONK Sidecar and Quad Masters classes in 2022. Numbers four and five will be offered a free national KNMV starting license for the ONK to encourage progression.
– The NK Sidecar class will be divided in 2022 after the ONK Quad Masters, so the quads will ride their heats first and then the sidecars.
