Lapucci increases lead, Elzinga a solid third
With two clear victories, Nicholas Lapucci has done good business in the European 250cc Championship. The 22-year-old Italian was clearly the best on the Mantova circuit. In addition to the Fantic rider, Oriol Oliver (3-3) and Hakon Fredriksen (5-2) were on the podium. Kevin Horgmo was 26 points behind Lapucci, but the Norwegian sees this increase significantly.
Rick Elzinga is the only Laaglander who managed to get into both points on the “Circuit Tazio Nuvolari”. The TBS driver finishes eighth and sixth. Dave Kooiker scores the second heat with a fifteenth place. Liam Everts does not play due to a painful shoulder and he drops back to fifth place in the standings.

The German is unable to capitalize on Jeremy Sydow's pole position. Lapucci takes the best start ahead of Martinez, Mike Gwerder and teammate Oliver. Again not a good start for Horgmo who starts the race around tenth place. While Oliver takes over third place from Gwerder, Lapucci tries to distance himself from Martinez. The Team VRT rider doesn't let that happen and he knows how to keep the leader in his sights. Andrea Bonacorsi and Horgmo work their way into the group that is fighting each other for third place. Later in the heat Fredriksen also joins and immediately takes measures. The Riley Racing rider passes Horgmo and Gwerder to battle with Oliver and Bonacorsi for third place. In the last round the Norwegian tries to get extra points, but the attack fails. Lapucci wins ahead of Martinez and Oliver. Bonacorsi takes fourth place and despite the problems in the final phase, Fredriksen still finishes fifth. Elzinga takes eighth place and is the only KNMV rider to score points.

Lapucci also had the best start in the second round, followed by Oliver, Horgmo, Sydow and Cornelius Toendel, who did not get further than sixteenth in the first round. Just before the start of the first full lap, Horgmo makes a mistake and sees fellow countrymen Fredriksen and Toendel pass. And that completes the top five, but there is one more change. Just in the first half of the race, Oliver makes a mistake, allowing Fredriksen to take over second place. Elzinga does not have the best start, but from outside the top ten the rider from Zenderen returns to sixth place. Kooiker had no success in the first round, but fortunately the Staphorster now managed to score thanks to a fifteenth place. Raf Meuwissen did not get further than 28th place in the first round, but now things are going a little better with the Limburger who crosses the finish line in 22nd.
Next time:
The tenth and final race will be held on the Mantova circuit next Tuesday. Lapucci has a 45-point lead over Horgmo, who is followed by Elzinga on 65 points.
