Herlings wins the GP, the difference with Febvre remains 3 points
For two series we were on the edge of our seats watching the titanic battle between the three World Cup leaders. With a second and a first place in the series, Jeffrey Herlings wins the GP with the same number of points as Romain Febvre. The difference between the two remains only three points.
The pack was led by Jeffrey Herlings in the second series. He was the fastest away ahead of Jorge Prado and Romain Febvre. Tim Gajser was like 10de got out of the starting blocks and finished 6th after two roundsde past. Febvre quickly passed Prado to take second place. In the meantime, Prado also had to contend with Cairoli who was only too eager to finish on the podium.
After 7 laps, Herlings had a lead of over 2 seconds over Febvre. A small hitch at Cairoli allows Gajser to pass and take over fourth place from the Sicilian. Then Tim Gajser is presented with Jorge Prado as his next prey. The Spaniard can offer a lot of resistance but has to be in the 10de gave up his spot to Gajser.
In the meantime, Herlings was able to extend his lead to 7 seconds over title rival Romain Febvre. Cairoli was criticized by teammate Prado and thought it was enough with four more rounds of competition. Cairoli takes fourth place, while Herlings was able to systematically increase his lead to a comfortable 14 seconds. Gajser follows in third place, 23 seconds behind the leader.
Herlings wins the second series ahead of Febvre and Tim Gajser. In the world champion standings, Febvre maintains a three-point lead over Herlings, while Gajser now faces a deficit of 15 points, which means his chances of a new world title have shrunk considerably. This Wednesday, November 10, the denouement of this outright thriller will take place on the same circuit. There in Mantova it will ultimately be decided who will be able to crown himself the MXGP world champion.
