This was the 2021 season for Liam Everts!
A few weeks ago Liam made a great impression in the Italian dunes of Riola Sardo where he made his debut in the MX2 World Championship. After that race, the focus returned to the EMX250 championship. This championship still had six games to go.
Fast forward to the last two Grand Prix races for the EMX250 class in Mantova. Unfortunately for Liam, things already went wrong during the timed training. An unfortunate crash caused Liam to land squarely on his shoulder. At first glance it seemed to be just severe muscle pain. But after the NMRI photo on site in the professional MXGP Medical Center, no other conclusion was possible than that the shoulder blade was broken. The decision was made to return home and consult the trusted Doctor Claes. He examined the shoulder and confirmed the non-displaced fracture meaning no surgery is required, the 6 cm fracture should heal naturally. This is done by taking at least 4 weeks of rest.
Being injured is never pleasant, but the injury comes at the best possible time. After a very long season, rest was already planned into the schedule, even more than just 4 weeks. The build-up to the new season will start sometime in early December with cardio and other fitness exercises. Riding his brand new Diga Pro Cross Factory KTM is something that is planned for early 2022. This is to create some hunger for riding again, to make him very enthusiastic about racing again, to get excited for the long tough motorcycle training sessions and to be passionate about the testing work.
“Motocross of Nations”
You would almost forget that in addition to all those Grand Prix competitions, Liam also contested the Motocross of Nations in Mantova for Team Belgium. Due to the date between the various Grand Prix competitions, the Belgian federation could not send the strongest team. However, a “B-team” built on young people like Brent Van Doninck, Cyril Genot and Liam did excellently! Without the technical problems, the Belgian team could have competed for a podium place. For Liam it was his first appearance, in the biggest competition in motocross. He was not very satisfied with the results, seventeenth and thirteenth, but at the end of the event he received the “Ricky Carmichael Award”, a prize for the best youngster in the MXoN.
All in all, 2021 was a more than decent season with Liam showing steady progression, and when everything fell into place like at the EMX250 in Oss, the Belgian showed flashes of brilliance. We also have a lot of people to thank. Motocross is an individual sport, yet behind every rider there are dozens of people and companies who make it more pleasant and easier for the rider. That's why we want to thank all Liamski fans who support him in difficult times and in good times! Who certainly deserve a shout-out are all the sponsors; Foodmaker, Red Bull, KTM, TDL-Group, Carmans, VDK Autocars & Reisburo, Gery De Haes Ramen & Deuren, Bouwconcept Freddy Versluys and Yoko but also Bike-Inn that supplies us with the unmissable racing bike and mountain bike for training, 4Gold who provides us with the best possible supplements based on Liam's DNA. They together with all others such as Sport Vlaanderen, Maxxis, M-construct, Motorex, Renthal, Twin-air, Blackbird Racing, Moto-Masters, Sidi, Acerbis, Haanwheels, HGS Exhausts, Hinson, Regina chains, Xtrig, Ortema, Oakley, 6D, Dental Sport, Crossbox, Brisk, Craft and USWE are all key pieces in creating a quality environment and competitive package for Liam!
