Best season performance for Mikkel Haarup
With a fifth place during the sixteenth Grand Prix of the season, Mikkel Haarup achieved his best performance of the season. The Dane managed to drive a very strong second round of the third Grand Prix on the Arco di Trento circuit. The Kawasaki rider finished eighth in the overall standings and consolidated twelfth place in the World Championship standings. Maxime Renaux won the GP and increased his lead so much that he won the title!
1st Heat:
After his second training period, Mikkel went into the match full of confidence. The start of the first moto is reasonable and Mikkel manages to send his Kawasaki through the first corner in fourteenth place. Then two more places are made up in the first round. In the third laps the 20-year-old rider tries to take over eleventh place from Hsu, but things go wrong. The Leatt-clad rider is hit by a colleague, falls and falls far back. From 24th place, Mikkel managed to work his way back to fourteenth place.
2st Heat:
The start of the second heat is better for Mikkel who comes out of the first corner in twelfth position. A place is immediately made up and two laps later, the blonde cross-country rider enters the top ten. He watches as teammates Gifting and Langenfelder fight for eighth place. Where Langenfelder fails to pass the Swede, it is Mikkel who manages to leave both behind him. After more than twenty minutes of competition, sixth place is taken over from Benistant and in the last lap there is the connection with fifth man De Wolf! It is blood-curdling until the finish flag, but Mikkel succeeds, fifth place is his when the checkered flag falls. His best performance of the season!
Next game:
After three races on the circuit north of Lake Garda, the South Holland team travels to Mantova. The last two races of the Grand Prix season will be held there. Mikkel is currently twelfth in the standings, but the arrows are aimed at Simon Langenfelder's tenth place. The difference is 21 points, so that promises excitement in Mantova.
