Marc de Reuver on Wednesday evening in Langs de Lijn and Surroundings
Marc de Reuver will be a guest on Radio 24 in the program Langs de Lijn en Omstreek on Wednesday evening, November 21 from 00:1 PM to talk in detail about his biography OPEN. Less than a week after OPEN, the biography of motocross rider De Reuver, was first available in bookstores, the first edition of the book has already been sold out and the second edition has already been ordered.
After the book launch on Saturday, November 13, OPEN actually hit stores in the Netherlands and Belgium on November 18. Sales during the launch and a successful lecture in Markelo on Sunday, November 21, contributed significantly to the early success of the book. In the meantime, online orders also continued, causing OPEN to sell out in no time.
OPEN reaches a new reading market
“When we started this project, many people, not least Marc himself, wondered to what extent there was interest in a biography about a motocross rider. As the project became more widely known, we quickly became convinced by all the positive reactions,” says writer Tim Gerth, who is happy that the sales figures exceed expectations. “The best compliment you can receive is that someone, with OPEN, reads a book for the first time for pleasure. I think this shows that there is indeed a market in the motocross world for a book with a real and honest motocross story.” Generally, readers pick up the book and read it in one sitting. “We have already received an incredible amount of positive responses. Everyone, ranging from top athletes to fans and people around Marc, speaks highly of the book. Parts of Marc's story are recognizable to many riders, while it also contains many revelations that have surprised people.”
Second edition forthcoming
In the meantime, we have been working hard on realizing a second edition. This is easier said than done in today's industry, as paper shortages and busy printing presses rule the market. Nevertheless, Edicola publishers have managed to place an order for the new edition, which will be completed before Christmas 2021. Until then, the book will be printed in smaller numbers to ensure that supply remains available, although with a longer delivery time.
OPEN in the house after all?
The fact that OPEN is sold out means that the warehouses in the Netherlands are empty and therefore everything is delivered to (pre-order) customers and bookstores. This means that the book can still be found in stores here and there. To find out which local bookstore in your area still has a copy in stock, you can consult the Libris website. If there is a need and Libris does not offer a solution, an email can be sent to open@timgerth.nl to see if a suitable solution can be found.
If you can wait a little longer for your copy, you can still order the book via www.marcdereuver.nl with a longer delivery time. Orderers of the pre-order promotion who have not yet received a book can of course expect their copy at home sooner.
