Vialle takes care of Marseillaise, Geerts remains second
After eleven years, the French national anthem sounds through the speakers during the French MX2 Grand Prix. Tom Vialle wins both heats without any major problems. Mattia Guadagnini (2-3) comes second in Lacapelle-Marival ahead of Maxime Renaux (4-2). For the last French victory we have to go back to 2010 when Marvin Musquin won in Saint Jean d'Angely. Renaux is doing well again in the standings because Jago Geerts (5-4) finished fourth today. The difference between the Yamaha riders now rises to 91 points.

In his special Alpinestars clothing set, Vialle gets off to the best start. The KTM rider takes his tenth FOX Holeshot Award of the season ahead of Geerts and Rene Hofer. Guadagnini, who took his first pole in the morning, follows in fourth place and the Italian immediately passes Hofer. De Wolf crashed in the first corner and the 17-year-old rider had to give chase. Beaton, De Wolf's teammate, also passes Hofer in the initial phase. Vialle is faster than Geerts who makes a mistake in the fourth laps. The Yamaha rider falls and therefore loses places. Guadagnini takes over second place, but Vialle already has a lead of more than six seconds. At that moment, Renaux is chasing Van de Moosdijk, who is in seventh place. After ten minutes the 21-year-old KEMEA rider manages to pass the Dutchman. Renaux then continues and passes Thibault Benistant and Geerts to cross the finish line in fourth. To the delight of the crowd, Vialle wins the first heat ahead of Guadagnini and Beaton. Behind Renaux, Geerts and Benistant are fighting for fifth place, which is captured by the rider from Balen. Van de Moosdijk sees Wilson pass Todd and the 21-year-old Brabander crosses the finish line in ninth place. De Wolf fights back to 19th place, scoring two points.

Vialle is also the fastest starter in the second moto and he immediately takes the lead ahead of Guadagnini, Hofer and Geerts, who quickly works his way up to third place. Wilson Todd starts this moto well, the 23-year-old rider starts fifth in this moto over 30 minutes and two laps. In the first full round, Beaton attacks his compatriot and the two men collide. The DRT driver crashes and this allows Renaux to complete the first lap in sixth place. In the first ten minutes Vialle manages to break away for five seconds and he also controls this heat. Renaux manages to come back to second place, but his compatriot is not surprised. Guadagnini manages to repel Renaux's first attack, but later the Italian has no answer against Renaux. Geerts comes fourth ahead of Hofer and Beaton. The top six finish within just six seconds of each other. Van de Moosdijk again crosses the finish line in ninth place, De Wolf remains just outside the top ten in eleventh place. Julian Vander Auwera now remains far away from the points.
Next time:
With six races to go, the next GP won't be long in coming. The championship travels to Spain for the thirteenth GP of the season.
