Veldman/Cermak win the 3rd GP heat and the World Championship lead, Bax/Musset the entire GP in the Czech Republic
Julian Veldman/Ondrej Cermak have won the spectacular third GP heat in Kramolin! With this she also took the lead in the World Championship with one more GP to go next week in Oss, Netherlands. Bax/Musset now finished second in Kramolin, but this was more than enough for the overall GP victory in the Czech Republic. Vanluchene/Bax finished third in the third Czech World Cup heat and are still playing a strong role for the title, only 1 point behind in the World Cup standings. Hermans/Janssens finished sixth but third in the overall standings of the GP Sidecars Kramolin-CZ.
The holeshot in the last heat was again for Willemsen/Lebraton with Hermans, Veldman, Bax and Vanluchene behind them.
The leading sidecars went around the circuit like a string. Bax attacked Veldman, but he then took Hermans for second place. Bax also did the same later and now Veldman/Cermak and Bax/Musset were in a fierce battle again after eight minutes. Hermans/Janssens were not in the right rhythm due to suspension problems and Vanluchene also passed Hermans for fourth place to join the fighting Veldman and Bax. Vanluchene even knocked on Bax/Musset's door and that temporarily gave Veldman some breathing room after about fifteen minutes into the race with Willemsen/Lebraton still in the lead. Veldman/Cermak then started pushing Willemsen for the lead with Bax/Musset in third place. On the back fast part Veldman kept the mega wide open and rounded the outside of Willemsen for the lead!
Bax/Musset also quickly outpaced Willemsen and went to second. Now, amid loud cheers from the now wild crowd, the battle between Veldman/Cermak and Bax/Musset continued, but now for the lead of the race! And how! Bax came very fiercely for a number of laps and tried to displace Veldman from the lead left, right, up and over. However, this did not work and Veldman took a small lead of two seconds. Behind this it was Vanluchene who had also passed Willemsen/Lebraton for third place. The Estonian-Finnish combination Varik/Kunnas also came on strong later and also defeated Hermans and Willemsen to take fourth place.
At the front, Veldman/Cermak managed to run much further away and they managed to win the third heat amid loud cheering!
Bax/Musset took second place in the third heat within ten seconds and thus won the GP Sidecars in Kramolin-Czech Republic with almost a 100% score in three heats!
Vanluchene/Bax then finished third with Varik/Kunnas in fourth. Willemsen/Lebraton finished fifth and Hermans/Janssens finished sixth. With this, Hermans/Janssens narrowly took third place in the GP Sidecars in Kramolin behind Veldman/Cermak, second in the overall GP result, and GP winner Bax/Musset.
Sanders/Musset at eight and Keuben/Rietman at nine also finished nicely in the top ten. There were also points for Steegmans/Steegmans (11th), Leferink/Beleckas (12th), Wijers/Van der Putten (13th), Van der Lagemaat/De Veene (16th) and Van der Veldt/Van der Veldt in 19th.
Kops/Horton and Van der Schraelen/Mans did not start again.
Due to the victory of Veldman/Cermak in the third GP heat, the frog and the bee take the red plate from Vanluchene/Bax and Veldman/Cermak therefore lead the 2021 World Championship Sidecar Cross! However, the same Vanluchene/Bax follow by only one point. Behind this it is Bax/Musset, only three points behind!
The title battle is still completely open with three sidecars that still have every chance of becoming World Champion!
Next week in Oss, the Netherlands, the final of the very exciting 2021 Sidecar Cross World Championship will follow. In three GP heats, one on Saturday and two on Sunday, it will be determined who can call themselves the 2021 Sidecar Cross World Champion!
