Scott Smulders about his match in Arroyomolinos
Scott Smulders' eighth place was certainly a good performance for the Brabander. The race in Spain did not go smoothly for the Husqvarna rider, but he now occupies sixth place in the standings. The difference with fourth man Lucas Coenen is only four points. Here the JUMBO-Husqvarna-BT Racing rider talks about his race under the Spanish sun.
Scott Smulders:
“The start was good and I had a good rhythm in the initial phase. I felt that I was faster than the leader, but he would not let me pass. My overtaking attempt to take the lead went wrong and I fell back to eighth place. I recovered well and fought to fifth place. The start of the second heat was a little less. From tenth place I quickly got into my rhythm again. This allowed me to quickly get into sixth place. Due to a mistake I crashed and lost places. I finished tenth but I am a bit disappointed in myself. The falls and small mistakes result in fewer points than earned. Driving has been going very well lately. I also have to show the speed of the training during the competitions. We will continue to build on this to finish the last four games strongly."
