Mikkel Haarup scores ninth place again
By continuing to work hard, Mikkel Haarup managed to score both heats during the Spanish Grand Prix. With fifteenth and ninth places during the heats in Arroyomolinos, the blonde rider becomes eleventh in the daily rankings. Roan van de Moosdijk's day goes less well, he continues to have too much trouble with his hand and unfortunately does not score. Maxime Renaux wins the Grand Prix near Madrid and increases his lead in the FIM MX2 World Championship to 108 points over teammate Jago Geerts.
1st Heat:
In the training sessions, Mikkel and Roan managed to set a sixth and seventh fastest time respectively. The differences are minimal, the 20-year-old Dane is only 0,614 behind Jago Geerts, who starts from pole. The sprint to the first corner does not go completely smoothly for both riders. Roan can start the match in midfield. Mikkel follows in 23rd place and both have a lot of work to do. With only five minutes left on the clock, the Eindhoven native makes a mistake, and unfortunately his injury throws a spanner in the works. This brings an early end to his match. From the backfield, Mikkel fights his way forward and the Leatt-clad rider fights like a lion to grab as many points as possible. The result is fifteenth place when the checkered flag falls.
2st Heat:
Due to the tightening hand, Roan and the team decided not to play in the second round. Mikkel is therefore the only rider on behalf of the South Holland team during this round of 30 minutes and two laps. The reaction over the starting gate is again good and now the sprint to the first corner is also much better. In the top ten, Motul-lubricated KX250F comes out of the long turner over the first jump. The first lap is completed in ninth place and Mikkel manages to hold this place for almost 15 minutes. When Guadagnini and De Wolf make a mistake, places are made up, but Benistant passes after about twenty minutes of the match. In the final phase Guadagnini also manages to connect and a fight ensues. The bet is eighth place, but this goes to the Italian ahead of Mikkel.
Next game:
From Madrid the team truck travels almost 1800 kilometers to Italy. The last five matches of the championship will be held there. The GP circus will be hosted at the Arco di Trento circuit for the first three races, the last two will be held in Mantova.
