Lapucci takes the double, Elzinga misses the podium
With two hard-fought victories, Nicholas Lapucci has scored important points in the European 250cc Championship. The Italian takes the victory and sees his lead over Kevin Horgmo grow to 32 points. Horgmo (3-2) comes second on the Teutschenthal circuit ahead of Andrea Bonacorsi (4-3). The Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing rider managed to score one point more than Rick Elzinga. The 19-year-old KTM rider finished fourth while Liam Everts finished sixth today.

The best start is for Lapucci, the Fantic driver takes the best start ahead of Jeremy Sydow, Horgmo, Maxime Grau and Camden McLellan, who is riding in Dutch service. In the first lap Horgmo manages to take second place while McLellan works his way up to third place! The 21-year-old Norwegian tries to put pressure on Lapucci, but that does not work. Elzinga quickly worked his way into the top five, passing Horgmo after about ten minutes of the race. The GasGas rider fights back for a while, but later it is Elzinga who can set his sights on leader Lapucci. The rider from Zenderen manages to clear the backlog and that makes for an exciting final. The TBS rider fights like a lion, but the 22-year-old leader is not surprised. In fact, in a short bend he drops the pace for a moment, causing Elzinga to become unbalanced. Lapucci accelerates and takes a safe lead. Elzinga comes second ahead of Horgmo and Bonacorsi, who has closed a deficit of almost seven seconds to McLellan. The South African, EMX85 champion of 2018, completes the top five and he is satisfied with that. Everts tries to enter the top ten in the last lap, but the attack on Grau fails. The Liamski KTM rider finishes eleventh while Raf Meuwissen (34th) and Dave Kooiker (37th) remain far out.

Even after the starting gate for the second heat goes down, it is Lupucci who has the best start. Horgmo follows like a shadow for Sydow, Tom Guyon and Elzinga. At the front, Lapucci and Horgmo distance themselves as Guyon comes under pressure from Elzinga. In the third lap Elzinga manages to take over third place, but a little later he makes a mistake. This allows Guyon to regain third place, but he is under pressure from Hakon Fredriksen. The Norwegian, who finished third in this championship last year, has left BUD Racing and now drives in the colors of Riley Racing. The Frenchman defends himself but is no match for the big Norwegian. Nothing changes for the first fifteen minutes, but it remains exciting. Horgmo tries to take the lead but Lapucci uses the full width of the circuit. When the SM ACtion rider makes a mistake, the connection disappears and Lapucci also wins the second round. Horgmo comes second ahead of Bonacorsi who, just like in the first moto, fights back well after a poor start. The 18-year-old rider from Bergamo has caught Guyon but gets some help from Fredriksen. He falls silent after more than 15 minutes of the race and has to walk back to the riders' quarters. Bonacorsi finishes third and takes his first EMX250 podium! Guyon crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of Everts, who decides the duel with Elzinga in his favor. Kooiker now finishes 23rd and Meuwissen crosses the finish line in 31st.
Next time:
There is not much time to recover from this match. Next week the points will be distributed in Lacapelle Marival where the French Grand Prix will be held.
