Hermans/Janssens win the 3rd GP heat in Oss, Bax/Musset World Champion 2021!
Koen Hermans/Glenn Janssens have won the last GP heat of 2021 in Oss. Bax/Musset finished second and took the World title in the sidecar cross 2021. Vanluchene/Bax finished a distant third and would definitively become second in the World Championship. After a starting crash, Veldman/Cermak only finished eleventh and thus ended up third in the World Cup standings.
Hermans took the lead in the third heat. Behind them, Vanluchene/Bax and Veldman/Cermak dived together into the 2nd corner. But that went wrong! Vanluchene's box rose and he went to the side with Veldman who also saw his sidecar rise. Veldman/Cermak went completely over the head. Vandaele/Debruyne shot past them and into the outer wall.
Bax/Musset were able to avoid everything. This almost decided the World Championship title race. Vanluchene was able to get back on fairly quickly, but Veldman had to leave last and could now take the small chance that there was of the World Cup title on his stomach.
At the front it was Hermans/Janssens who had Bax/Musset close behind them. Halfway through the race, Vanluchene/Bax were third and seemed to be catching up with the leaders, so the heat remained exciting until the finish. But it would never be a real threat. Hermans/Janssens did what they had to do and won the race. Bax/Musset continued to follow wisely and came second but crossed the finish line as the new Sidecar Cross World Champions 2021! Vanluchene/Bax then finished third and finally won silver in the World Championship sidecar cross. Partly due to this victory, Koen Hermans/Glenn Janssens rose to fourth place in the World Cup standings, ahead of Varik/Kunnas, who finished fifth in the World Cup.
