Hakon Fredriksen celebrates, Everts seventh
A day before his 19th birthday, Hakon Fredriksen provided his own gift. The Norwegian has won the sixth race of the European 250cc Championship. With a first and second place he scored the most points in Lacapelle Marival. Andrea Bonacorsi showed up strongly, the EMX125 champion finished second today ahead of Frenchman Tom Guyon (4-4) who scored his first EMX250! Despite a poor first round, Nicholas Lapucci is doing well in the title fight, the Italian now has a 36 point lead over Kevin Horgmo!
Liam Everts is the best Lowlander in sunny France. The 17-year-old rider finished seventh today by finishing tenth and fifth in the heats.
1e some
When the starting gate goes down, Horgmo takes the best start ahead of Jeremy Sydow, Fredriksen, Guyon and Cornelius Toendel. Spaniard David Braceras falls while Lapucci is included in midfield! While Fredriksen quickly passes the German, compatriot Horgmo makes a mistake. This gives the 18-year-old rider the lead position and he will not relinquish it. Guyon has to bow to Toendel a little later. he tries to catch up with his teammate, but he no longer gives up the position. With ten minutes to go, Bonacorsi passes third man Guyon, after which the Italian closes his gap to Toendel. The Hutten Metaal Racing driver finished second behind Fredriksen and ahead of Toendel. So it's a complete Yamaha podium in this first moto. Guyon comes fourth ahead of Emil Weckman. Elzinga crosses the finish line in seventh and Everts is tenth. Raf Meuwissen (27th), Dave Kooiker (34th), Rob Windt (36th) and Marcel Conijn (DNF) unfortunately remain far away from the points.
2e some
After his twelfth place in the first moto, Lapucci wants revenge and the Fantic rider immediately takes the lead. Guyon follows ahead of Fredriksen, Federico Tuani and Weckman. The Finn quickly leaves Tuani behind him, but he misses the connection with the top three. From eleventh place, Bonacorsi quickly works his way up because after two laps he enters the top five! Both Weckman and Guyon have no answer to the big Italian who crosses the finish line third behind Lapucci and Fredriksen. Guyon again takes fourth place, this time ahead of Everts. He has a nice battle with Elzinga, but he makes a mistake in the last lap, causing the rider from Zenderen to pass both Horgmo and Guillem Farres. Elzinga is still ranked eighth. Kooiker (28th), Meuwissen (31st), Windt (32nd) do not score again. Conijn will not start the second round.
Next time:
The EMX250 will continue in two weeks in Arco di Trento, that race is on Tuesday October 26!
