Coldenhoff: “To be honest, it was a great feeling”
With only two podium finishes in thirteen races, the season was difficult for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing MXGP. In Arco di Trento, Glenn Coldenhoff, Jeremy Seewer and Ben Watson performed well. The three riders tell their story here after the second Italian GP of the season.
Glenn Coldenhoff:
"I have had a difficult time all year so far, except for the Grand Prix of Maggiora. That's why it's good to be on stage here. It has been a very long and difficult road. It's nice to be back where I belong. I felt good this morning and the first moto was ok with a fifth place. In the second moto it was intense and I got a lot of pressure from the riders behind me. I was able to take the lead and lead for a few laps. To be honest, this was a great feeling. I'm really looking forward to more of these matches. It's nice that we started this triple header Grand Prix on a strong note. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season."
Jeremy Seewer:
“Today was one of my best days of the season so far. The bike runs perfectly on this track, which is very positive. I feel good, sharp and I enjoy riding the motorcycle. Even though it is not my strong point, I managed to take pole position in the timed training. It was cool to get a holeshot in the first moto and lead for a while. I came close to victory. I felt good for the second moto but I was lucky not to crash at the start. I hit Jorge Prado's rear wheel and had to continue straight. It was great that I could come back from last place to fifth place. It's a shame I didn't finish on the podium. With four riders we had the same number of points. We take the positive with us, we scored well and I look forward to the next match that is scheduled here in a few days."
Ben Watson:
“I got good starts today and that is a positive point. It always helps. It is very difficult to overtake on this circuit. I don't feel 100 percent yet. My ankle isn't perfect yet and I haven't ridden much since I suffered the injury. Still, I felt pretty good on the track. In the first moto I crashed a few times, but in the second moto I rode consistently and the riding went well. It wasn't a bad day for me."
