VIDEO: Rick Elzinga is ready for Pala!
EMX250 rider Rick Elzinga has an exciting weekend ahead! Rick is doing well in the EMX250 but will take his chance tomorrow in the AMA Nationals where he will participate in the 11th round of the championship in Pala, California.
If all goes well, Elzinga does not rule out that he will also participate in the final round of the championship, which will take place the following week in Hangtown. Hopefully he will be able to complete two rounds of the championship before returning home to focus on the EMX250 again.
Miraculously, the MX community jumped to the rescue when Rick Elzinga stepped up GateDrop.com announced that he was looking for a good seat for next season because otherwise he would be forced to give preference to his social career.
That message also resonated here on mxmag.nl and via MXMattii on Vital MX. So now Rick is in the US with support Brent Norman, AEO Powersports, REP suspension and its team TBS Conversions will make their debut in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 250MX. The way Brent jumped on the bandwagon is a story in itself can read here.
How does it feel to be in the US now?
Rick Elzgina: “It's fantastic to have this opportunity to race in America. Actually it feels a bit surreal to be here because it has always been a bit of a dream. I think a lot of riders have an American dream. You see the MX in Europe getting a bit smaller given the changes coming at KTM. There are a lot of changes within teams and sponsors etc. that are changing. The US remains comparable, it is not shrinking because the sport is bigger there.”
What do you hope to achieve this weekend?
Elzinga: "My expectations? I actually do not know. The pace in the Nationals is really different (than in the EMX250). I think they drive more aggressively in the US, but we'll see. I really don't know but we'll see how it goes, I can't wait.”
