Vialle dominates MX2 qualifying, Van de Moosdijk 9th, Everts 11th
Almost from start to finish, MX2 World Champion Tom Vialle led the second MXoN qualifying race. Rene Hofer, Conrad Mewse, Mattia Guadagnini completed the top 5. Roan van de Moosdijk fought back to 9th place after a fall in the first corner. Liam Everts finished eleventh after a consistent race just outside the top 10.
The Estonian Jorgen Mathias Talviku surprised with the holeshot, but his Jumbo Husqvarna BT Motorsport teammate Camden McLellan also made an excellent start. The qualifying race started poorly for Roan van de Moosdijk. After all, he crashed coming out of the first corner and had to chase from the 25thth place. Liam Everts was in the top 15 in the initial phase.
Talviku could not enjoy his leading position for long. Tom Vialle almost immediately took command with his Austrian teammate Rene Hofer in second place. However, the great animator of this sprint was the British Conrad Mewse. From sixth place, the KTM UK pilot rode into Hofer's wheel thanks to several consecutive fastest laps. He eventually came third. Unobtrusive but effective, Guadagnini took fourth place. He had started tenth. However, thanks to a strong final sprint, he keeps the Italians in the (provisional) pole position in the qualifications.
The Swede Isak Gifting and his German GasGas colleague Simon Längfelder finished 5th and 7th respectively. Former European 85cc champion McLellan was the surprise of the day with a decent 6th place. On a harder than expected circuit, Mantova had to fight for every meter. However, Van de Moosdijk came back strongly after his crash and finished 2,5th less than 9 seconds.
Due to the tight first corner and his poor starting position, Liam Everts started the race with a handicap. Although Everts quickly ended up in 11th place, he just couldn't get into the top 10. After two qualifying races (MXGP and MX2), Italy leads (5 pts), ahead of Great Britain (5 pts), France (5 pts), the Netherlands (12 pts) and Germany (12 pts). The Belgians are currently 11th with 24 points.
