Rick Haverdil extends lead
Rick Haverdil has strengthened his leading position in the ONK Quads Masters. Haverdil won both heats on the Witte Ruijsheuvel circuit, creating a 13-point lead over Joe Maessen in the standings. With a second and third place in the heats, Maessen achieved second place in the daily classification. The Belgian Jan Vlaeymans saw his strong riding rewarded this time with third place in the daily rankings. He kept Valentino Roks and Ruben van Lith behind him.
The match in Oss did not go well for Ricardo Phoelich. Phoelich was third in the standings of the ONK Quads Masters beforehand, but came into contact with Lith at the start of the first round and fell off hard. He was still behind the starting gate at the restart, but left the race halfway through the heat with a wrist injury.
Mike Koolhaas took the day's victory in the NK Quads class. With a second and first place in the heats, he kept Gymano Besems behind him based on the second heat. Besems finished in second place with an equal number of points. Third place went to Nick Kreunen with a third and fourth place in the heats.
First heat
At the start of the first heat there was a big hit in the first corner. Van Lith seemed to take the holeshot from the outside, but when going to the inside of the bend he came into contact with Phoelich. The result was a red flag. Everything seemed to go off without a hitch. Van Lith was able to quickly continue his way and Phoelich reported again at the starting gate. However, the consequences for Phoelich would later prove to be significant.
At the restart it was once again Lith who was the fastest away, ahead of Haverdil, Roks Marc de Vries and Maessen. Haverdil managed to take over the lead in the first lap and it was only a moment before Johan Gommans passed Maessen. Maessen quickly corrected this and took over fifth place on the same lap. De Vries had already passed Roks and finished third. However, he quickly had to give up that place to Maessen, who was on the rise. Then it was Roks who passed de Vries and was back in fourth place. Haverdil had already taken a lead over van Lith, who was being chased by Maessen. It was Maessen who quickly took over second place. This was already too late and Haverdil turned out to be impossible to trace. Behind Roks, meanwhile, there was a lot of fighting for fourth place by de Vries, Johan Gommans, Phoelich, Vlaeymans and Richard Ruttenberg. Gommans and Phoelich passed Roks and finished in fourth and fifth place. As a result of the starting crash, Phoelich then dropped out and left the race. This put Roks back in fifth place. Ruttenberg would also leave the heat a little later. Gommans was now right behind van Lith, but was unable to pass him. Haverdil won the round ahead of Maessen, van Lith, Gommans and Roks.
At the National Championships it was Gymano Besems who was in the lead from start to finish. He barely managed to keep Mike Koolhaas behind him, who had returned to the front from eighth place. He was followed by Nick Kreunen, who managed to keep Mike Ver Boven behind him.
Second heat
It was now Haverdil who immediately took the lead ahead of Patrick Kirk, Roks, van Lith and Maessen. Haverdil quickly took a small lead and seemed to be preparing for another heat victory. Behind it, Kirk slowly but surely fell back after three laps. First he had to let Roks pass and a little later Maessen also passed him, who had already passed Van Lith. Vlaeymas and de Vries joined van Lith and passed him a little later. Maessen passed Roks and shook him off. Haverdil, however, continued to drive at an equal pace and was no longer overtaken by Maessen. The action was mainly behind Roks. An unleashed Vlaeymans passed Roks and in the following lap also caught Maessen and then started the hunt for Haverdil. However, it was no longer of any use. Haverdil's lead was too big and he won the heat. Vlaeymans finished in second place at six seconds. Maessen finished third ahead of Roks. The fallen Kirk could still be happy with fifth place in the heat, especially because de Vries and Twan van der Jagt were now hot on his heels.
At the National Championships, the second round was mainly a one-man show by Koolhaas. He led from start to finish and won the heat by more than 54 seconds. Gymano Besems came from fifth place to finish second in the heat and limited the damage. Third place in the heat went to Tim van Wee. Nick Kreunen's fourth place was enough to take the podium behind Koolhaas and Besems/
