Series victories Mesters and Smulders, overall victory Reisulis
After a rollercoaster weekend (3-1-14), a podium for Scott Smulders was the highest achievable in the ADAC Junior Cup 125 in Fürstlich Drehna. Smulders finished third after MJC Yamaha's Karlis Reisulis (4-2-1) and the German Maxmilian Werner (2-3-2).
Smulders remains firmly in the saddle in the championship standings. He is now 29 points ahead of Constantin Piller, who finished fifth in Fürstlich Drehna.
Bradley Mesters took his second win of the season. After an eighth place (1-6-25) this weekend, he has to give up a place in the standings. The F&H Racing Shop driver is now fifth.
Mesters surprises at the end
In the first moto, Kosak KTM rider Maximilian Werner seemed to be heading for victory. The holeshot led the entire race until a driven Bradley Mesters steered his Kawasaki narrowly past Werner. A brilliant victory for Bradley who had risen from a top-5 ranking. Championship leader Scott Smulders (BT Racing) came in third after starting sixth. Sem De Lange repeated his best performance from Dreetz with fifth place.
Ups and downs for Smulders
ADAC Junior Cup 125 leader Smulders put things in order in race two. Scott led from start to finish, his 6th series victory of the season in Germany! Karlis Alberts Reisulis (Yamaha) overtook Werner for P2. Mesters and De Lange finished sixth and eighth respectively.
The second 125cc round today did not go as hoped for Scott Smulders. This time Scott had to settle for 14th place. The victory went to Karlis Alberts Reisulis (KTM) ahead of Maximilian Werner. Reisulis also takes the day's victory ahead of Werner and Smulders. Sem De Lang was the best lowlander in 11th.
