Phoelich the strongest in De Herselse Bossen
Ricardo Phoelich has won the third competition of the ONK Quads Masters. At the Herselse Bossen circuit in Lierop he took second place in the first heat, well behind Joe Maessen. In the second moto he and Maessen caught up and then won the moto by a wide margin. Based on the second heat, Phoelich became the winner of the day ahead of Maessen. Championship leader Rick Haverdil finished in third place. After finishing third in the first heat, Haverdil took advantage of the retirement of Belgian Jan Vlaeymans to finish third again in the heat.
Haverdil retained the lead in the championship. The battle for fourth place was also decided on the basis of the second heat. This went to Ruben van Lith with an eighth and fourth place in the heats. He thus stayed ahead of Johan Gommans, who finished in fifth place twice.
At the NK Quads it was Mike Ver Boven who was the strongest. After a third place in the first moto he managed to win the second moto. He thus stayed ahead of Gymano Besems, who won the first round and took third place in the second round. Third place went to Mike Koolhaas with two second place finishes in the heats.
First heat
It was Maessen who had the best start ahead of Gommans, Phoelich, Haverdil and Valentino Roks. Phoelich and Haverdil passed Gommans in the second laps and after this the differences seemed to be made quickly. Nothing changed after this in the first three positions. Maessen was by far the fastest and Phoelich in turn outpaced Haverdil each lap. Behind it, it was first Roks who managed to catch up and pass Gommans and a little later Gommans also had to let Vlaeymans pass him. However, a smoking engine did not bode well for Vlaeymans, but a little later he also managed to pass Roks. Maessen won the heat with more than 30 seconds ahead of Phoelich. Haverdil followed fifteen seconds later. Vlaeymans shook off Roks for fourth place in the heat, who again had a wide lead over Gommans.
At the National Championships it was Koolhaas who was in the lead for a long time, ahead of Gymano Besems and Ver Boven. However, in the final phase of the heat, both Koolhaas and Besems encountered problems. However, Ver Boven's deficit was already too great to play a significant role in a possible heat victory. Besmes passed Koolhaas and took the heat victory. Koolhaas recovered somewhat to cross the finish line in second place. Ver Boven followed about ten seconds behind.
Second heat
It was Maessen again who came out on top. He was now followed by Haverdil, Phoelich, Roks and Vlaeymans. Phoelich quickly took second place and started chasing Maessen. In the meantime, Roks was passed by Vlaeymans and van Lith and Vlaeymans also passed Haverdil. With the battle behind them, Maessen and Phoelich were soon outpaced. Phoelich overtook Maessen and took the lead. Behind that, Vlaemans was already well behind. He was followed again by Haverdil and van Lith. Now it was Phoelich who quickly took a lead over Maessen and took away both the heat and the day victory. Vlaeymans' strong riding was not rewarded. He had to leave the race, causing Haverdil to move up to third place. Van Lith was about ten seconds behind this and crossed the finish line in fourth. Gommans had passed Roks to finish the heat in fifth.
For a long time, Koolhaas seemed to take both the heat and day victory at the NK Quads. However, where Besems had quickly dropped out of the battle this time, it was Ver Boven who managed to catch up with Koolhaas and walked away with the heat and the day's victory. Koolhaas followed in second place at about ten seconds and Besems had to be satisfied with third place in the heat.
