Lotte van Drunen takes bronze in Riola Sardo
In a sunny and warm Riola Sardo, Lotte van Drunen took the bronze during the EMX85 final. The 14-year-old KTM rider finished second and third during the heats, placing her third in the overall standings. The title went to the Czech Republic thanks to Vitezslav Marek. The 13-year-old rider comes first and second ahead of Janis Martins Reisulis (3-1) and therefore Van Drunen!

A very good start is had by Lotte van Drunen who boldly takes the lead ahead of Reisulis and Dean Gregoire. Amaury Maindru follows in fourth place, ahead of birthday boy Douwe Van Mechgelen, Sebastien Leok and Marek. The Czech immediately made up many places in the first round. He comes third from the first lap, 4,5 seconds behind Van Drunen. All eyes are on Van Drunen because the Sliedrechtse no Reisulis is left behind. The Latvian tries to take over the lead, but there is no more than following. Marek comes closer little by little, but the leading group does not come together. Van Drunen takes distance and with three laps to go has a six second lead over Marek, who has finally managed to take second place. The final phase is very exciting because Van Drunen has some bad luck with the stragglers and Marek is coming closer with big steps. In the last lap he makes a mistake after which Van Drunen seems to take the victory, but with the help of the stragglers, Marek comes back and two corners before the finish he takes the lead! Marek wins for Van Drunen who is of course angry. Reisulis finishes third, 17 seconds behind the winner. Gyan Doensen takes fourth place ahead of Noel Zanocz. The Hungarian moves from 26th to fifth place in eight laps! Van Mechgelen crosses the finish line in seventh place and Ampoorter takes eleventh place. Gregoire scores by crossing the finish line in fifteenth place ahead of Jayson van Drunen.

Also in the second it is 'Holeshot' for a Dutchman, but now it is Gregoire. The 11-year-old rider with the Vos Oss-KTM takes the lead ahead of Markuss Ozolins and Doensen. In the first lap, both Ozolins and Doensen manage to pass the Youth Pro MX rider who is then attacked by the three protagonists of the first moto. Reisulis passes first and the FXR dressed rider sets a good pace. The Latvian catches Doensen and not much later also leader Ozolins. After that the race is his and with a safe lead Reisulis wins this second round. Marek has worked his way up to second place and Lotte van Drunen takes third place in this heat. Ozolins still has to fight hard with Doensen for fourth place, but the Kosak rider takes fourth place in this second round ahead of 13-year-old Doensen. Van Mechgelen crosses the finish line in eleventh place and Ian Ampoorter also now takes points in seventeenth place. Unfortunately, the other Lowlanders do not cross the finish line in the points.
