Jippe Selen reigns supreme in Overloon
Jippe Selen won the fourth race in the MX2 youth (MON) class in Overloon. Selen was supreme at the Duivenbos circuit and won both heats by a wide margin. Best of the rest was Eric van Helvoirt. The Gasdevil rider in turn had a big lead over third place in both heats. Sjef Platte took third and fourth place in the heats on the lowest step of the podium. He stayed ahead of Luc Pullen and Alec Blokland. In the championship standings, Van Helvoirt is in the lead with a three-point lead over Selen. Platte, Blokland and Pullen follow behind.
First heat
It was Selen who immediately took the lead ahead of Van Helvoirt, Platte, Kim Peters and Pullen. In the battle for the first three places, the differences quickly increased and there was little to no tension in the mutual battle. Behind her it was Peters who had to leave fourth place to Pullen and a little later it was Blokland who passed her. Halfway through the heat, Blokland also passed Pullen and so the top five in the heat had settled. The differences between them only became greater after this and it was Selen who took the heat victory ahead of Van Helvoirt, Platte, Blokland and Pullen.
Second heat
It was now Van Helvoirt who took care of the holeshot ahead of Selen, Peters, Bob Freriks and Pullen. The battle was mainly in the early stages of the heat. Selen quickly took over the lead. Siem Ermers and Blokland finished fourth and fifth during the second passage, behind Peters and Freriks had already dropped outside the top five. Blokland passed Ermers but made a small mistake moments later. After some bad luck at the start, Platte had now passed Ermers and now finished fourth. Once again the battle seemed to be over and the differences between them after four rounds seemed too great for any tension. However, Platte managed to get on the back wheel of Pullen towards the end of the moto, but was just one or two laps short of taking over third place. Selen won the heat again with a big difference over Van Helvoirt. Far behind, Pullen just kept Platte behind him. Blokland recovered from his fall and passed Ermers on the last lap to finish fifth in the heat.
