Jeffrey Dewulf prepares return
In the second half of the season, Jeffrey Dewulf (29) traditionally put his nose into the window in the MXGP through wildcard appearances. However, the West Flemish sand hare has been out of action for a while after a heavy fall during training in Lommel. Fortunately, his recovery is going well.
After his operation by Dr. Claes in Herentals, Jeffrey started his rehabilitation with his physiotherapist. “Everything is actually going according to plan,” says the Desmet Motorshop KTM rider. “If I follow the physiotherapist's assessment, I can resume motorcycle training early next month. (smiles) Because it was so itchy, I took a tour around a field a few weeks ago. The feeling was okay, but of course you cannot compare that with a real speed training on a cross circuit.”
The former Belgian MX2 champion has focused on French beach races in recent seasons. At the moment, Dewulf is mainly focusing on a full recovery. “The doctor explained to me that this is an injury that should not be underestimated. That's why I don't want to get back on the bike until I'm 100% ready. Starting to ride and then having to stop and take a break for a few weeks because the shoulder is not yet completely okay, is something I definitely want to avoid.
