ISDE: Titanic Battle Garcia Vs. Verona
Nothing has changed in the country rankings. Team Italia still leads the Spaniards. However, for the scratch, Josep Garcia has his hands full with the lightning-fast Andre Verona. Verona and Garcia each won two tests, but the day's victory narrowly went to the Red Bull KTM pilot!
The new test in the morning was welcome because the legendary dust clouds on the other tests are now starting to take on astronomical proportions. We think it would be a shame if this almost certain victory were to elude the Italians, but more selective tests await the riders on days 4 and 5. Mistakes are easily made and technical defects can never be ruled out!
Briefly noted
- Day three brought more of the same, the dominance of the Italians was even greater! With Andrea Verona as P2, Matteo Cavallo P4, Thomas Oldrati P7 and Davide Guarneri P9.
- It is striking that the ISDE remains a unique competition. The Swede Mikael Persson (photo above) was never a superstar during his World Cup period, but today he won a second scratch victory. Persson is in a fantastic third overall position.
- Both Italy and Spain are number one and two, but the Americans are now gradually feeling the hot breath of Sweden on their neck. In addition to Persson, Albin Elowson, seventh, also performed well.
- Just 2,9 seconds! That was the difference between Josep Garcia and Andrea Verona at the end of the day.
- The Italians are also at a loss in the Junior rankings. There, Team USA is second at more than 3 minutes. The French follow at 3 minutes. Although here too the Swedes are still in the running for the final podium.
- In the Women's World Trophy, a superior Brandy Richards controls the match in such a way that the American women now have an almost 9-minute lead over Team Great Britain. World champion Jane Daniels may not be in top form, she has the flu, but she is keeping the British on course for silver. Spain is still a distant third.
