Herlings has 93 GP victories
Jeffrey Herlings returns from Turkey with two Grand Prix victories. The 26-year-old KTM rider now won, just like last Sunday, with a first and second place. Next to 'The Bullet' Tim Gajser (3-1) and Antonio Cairoli (2-3) were on the podium. This is Herlings' 93rd GP victory, which puts him next to Cairoli in the statistics.
1st heat:
The FOX Holeshot Award goes to Prado, who then manages to hold the lead for four laps. However, the Spaniard makes a mistake and falls hard. His race ends early and Febvre takes the lead ahead of Herlings, Gajser and Cairoli. There is little difference between these four, which makes for an exciting match. The Kawasaki rider seems to be going for the win, but Herlings strikes in the last lap! The Brabander wins ahead of Cairoli who catches Gajser in the last round. Due to these attacks, Febvre drops back to fourth place and Palus Jonass completes the top five. Glenn Coldenhoff (8th) and Brent Van Doninck (10th) both finished in the top ten. Calvin Vlaanderen (13th), Kevin Strijbos (15th), Brian Bogers (17th) and Jeremy Van Horebeek (20th) also finished in the points.
2st heat:
Once again it is Prado who comes out on top, immediately followed by Herlings and Gajser. Jonass follows in fourth place but he quickly gets Cairoli on his rear fender. Herlings is unable to take the lead and after ten minutes Gajser enters into confrontation. The Slovenian passes Herlings and moments later displaces Prado from the lead. Herlings sees the danger and can also pass his KTM colleague, but Gajser is too fast. The Honda rider wins the second heat ahead of Herlings, who takes the overall. Cairoli crosses the finish line in third place ahead of Prado and Febvre. Bogers now takes tenth place and Van Doninck scores by finishing fifteenth. Coldenhoff again did not have the best GP and can now only take two points. Flanders, Strijbos and Van Horebeek do not score this round.
Next time:
This championship will continue on September 19, this will take place on the circuit in the dunes of Riola Sardo.
