De Lange wins the final, Van Erp the title
Sem de Lange won the last race of the KNMV Open Dutch Championship 125cc at the circuit of MC De Wielewaal. However, the 17-year-old rider loses the title to Ivano van Erp. It should be noted that De Lange did not participate in competitions by participating in the ADAC Junior Cup 125cc. Van Erp had problems during the first heat today, but third place later in the afternoon was enough for him to win the title. De Lange wins in Reusel ahead of Scott Smulders (3-1) and Mirco ten Kate (2-5).
Smulders starts the race best in the first heat, but Van Erp briefly takes over the lead. Smulders doesn't let that happen and takes back the lead, but makes a mistake moments later. That puts Van Erp back in the lead, but after more than 15 minutes of racing the Yamaha rider makes a mistake and does not reach the finish. De Lange wins the first heat ahead of Mirco ten Kate and Smulders, who comes back from fourteenth place.
In the second heat Ten Kate starts the race best, but he makes a mistake. De Lange and Smulders battle each other for the lead. In the second half of the heat De Lange seems to be going for the double, but in the last round it is Smulders who wins the heat. De Lange comes second ahead of Van Erp, who thus secures the title. Danny van den Bosse and Ten Kate complete the top five.
