Dale and Van Zoest on stage in Arkel
After a long summer break, the KNMV Open Dutch Youth Championship continued last weekend in Arkel. For Team Youth Pro MX the race went well with podium finishes for Harry Dale and Chento van Zoest. The little Brit won the 65cc Small Wheels competition while the Limburger finished third. Yuel Karnebeek finished sixth and Noam Mezzavilla finished eleventh. Dean Gregoire did not take action, he preferred 'The Cup of the Future' in Belgium.
Arkel:
The first moto doesn't start well for the quartet of Youth Pro MX riders, but luckily they manage to change that quickly. Chento starts sixth, but halfway through the race he takes over the lead. Harry follows in his shadow and has the best final sprint. Just before the start of the last lap he takes the lead and wins ahead of Chento. Yuel finishes sixth and Noam takes twelfth place.
The second heat starts a little better, but fast starter Kenzo Jaspers does not wait. Chento works his way from fifth to second place. Harry starts seventh and manages to take second place from Chento in the fourth lap. They try to close their gap to leader Jaspers, but he won't let that happen. Harry finished second, which gave him the day's victory ahead of Jaspers (4-1) and Chento (2-3). Yuel again has a poor start, but the rider from Enschede still crosses the finish line in seventh place. Noam improves compared to the first heat and now crosses the finish line in eleventh.
Berghem:
After his serious leg injury, Jur van Tuijl was behind the starting gate again. The rider from Wamel came into action during the MON competition on the Berghem circuit. The race did not go smoothly for the student whose engine had no power in the first heat. Despite that problem, Jur still managed to cross the finish line in fourth. Later it turned out that the 'power valve' had become loose. Unfortunately, Jur did not finish the second heat.
Baisieux:
In Baisieux, Belgium, Dean Gregoire took action during the Coupe de L'Avenir where the best youth teams from each country competed against each other. Unfortunately no Team Netherlands during this event, but Dean, Gyan Doensen and Jayson van Drunen had joined forces. Unfortunately, Van Drunen had to withdraw at the last minute, but Dean and Limburger Doensen took action. In the overall rankings, Doensen finished sixth ahead of Dean. The rider from Geldrop finished twelfth, seventh and eighth during the heats and rode a very strong race. The victory went to Janis-Martins Reisulus who stood on the podium last week during the EMX final in Italy.
Next time:
