Bax/Musset take the 2nd heat win in the Estonian GP!
Bax/Musset managed to win the 2nd heat of the GP Sidecars in Estonia. Veldman/Cermak did well and came second ahead of Hermans/Janssens. World Cup leaders Vanluchene/Bax finished fourth.
At the start, Bax/Musset were the fastest, with Veldman/Cermak and Hermans/Janssens behind them. Van Werven/Van den Boogaart had started at four, but within 3 corners they had passed Hermans for third place.
Behind this it was Leferink/Beleckas on five who were aggressively passed inside in the second round by Vanluchene/Bax who took that place. A lap later, Varik/Kunnas also passed the young Leferink for sixth place.
After 8 minutes of the race we saw a big crash by Van Werven who, after landing on a bump at speed, turned over hard! The duo was eventually able to get back on again, but left the race and Hermans/Janssens were able to easily take over third place and the rest of the sidecars also moved up one position.
At the front, Veldman/Cermak challenged Bax/Musset at the start of the heat, but they were never able to really attack for the lead. On the contrary, Bax/Musset took distance from Veldman/Cermak again halfway and only widened the gap. At the end of the race the gaps between all the teams were quite large. Not that the race wasn't spectacular, on the contrary. All kinds of incidents caused commotion and gaps between the teams. Not only Van Werven crashed, but Cerny/Choppin also crashed and Kops crashed hard and hit his own driver Horton, but they were still able to continue to P11 at the finish. There was also consternation when a bale of straw was thrown across the track and an oncoming team barely managed to avoid it! Be that as it may, Bax/Musset took a glorious victory at the finish, ahead of the once again strong Veldman/Cermak in second place and Hermans/Janssens in third place. World Championship leaders Vanluchene/Janssens finished fourth and in fifth place we saw home riders Varik/Kunnas. Team Keuben finished sixth, Leferink seventh and Willemsen/Lebraton finished eighth. Kops finished eleventh, Van der Lagemaat twelfth, Wesselink/Van Gaalen finished eighteenth and Van der Veldt/Van der Veldt nineteenth.
Van Werven/Van den Boogaart left the match after their crash and unfortunately did not score.
