Wietse Brackman is king in Oostrozebeke!!
The MCLB federation was a guest in Oostrozebeke on August 15, where former Grand Prix pilot and now “Get Driven” entrepreneur Gunther Ghysels made his one-off return to competition. This on a Van Meor Husqvarna. “GG” who started with number 144 for the occasion did not compete for the victory.
Those who did compete for victory were David Segers and Wietse Brackman. In the first moto it was Wietse Brackman who managed to take the holeshot on his Leon Sagaert Husqvarna with David Segers in his immediate wake. The latter was able to keep up with the leader's pace on his Geecobikes KTM, but a few slower laps in the middle of the race were the turning point, so to speak. Wietse Brackman was able to build a certain lead and David Segers was busy consolidating his second place. In third place, Tallon Verhelst came in ahead of Mattis Meersschaut and Ilan Heirwegh, who with his fifth place overall immediately became the first 250cc pilot in this round.
In the second heat we perhaps had a slightly more exciting course. Once again it was Wietse Brackman and David Segers who took the lead in no time. Wietse Brackman was able to build up a lead tenth by tenth, but this was almost completely canceled out just before the halfway point of the race by a fast lap by David Segers. This was immediately the signal for Wietse Brackman to open the throttle completely, and we also saw a tired David Segers who dropped the pace. Wietse Brackman's lead now increased spectacularly. David Segers on his Geecobikes KTM eventually finished second at thirteen seconds, ahead of Maarten Govaert, Tallon Verhelst and Ilan Heirwegh, who with his fifth place was once again crowned the best 250cc pilot in this field.
For the fans of Gunther Ghysels, who finished twelfth in the first heat and on the same lap as the winner. In the second heat he returned to the paddock after three laps.
The podium in the 500cc International was as follows after these two series in Oostrozebeke. Wietse Brackman was the big winner ahead of David Segers and Tallon Verhelst. In the 250cc class, victory logically went to Ilan Heirwegh ahead of Jérôme Biets and Stanley Verstraete. At the International B Open it was Damon Tanghe who took home the largest bunch of flowers. He stayed ahead of Jens Van Laere and Greg Vullers in this category.
