VLM Kampenhout: Kevin Fors for Jens Van Meer
Perfect weather conditions for Kenny Janssens' organization in Kampenhout yesterday. Unfortunately today the weather gods did not cooperate. Kevin Fors (1-2) was able to draw on his endurance experience and took sporting revenge with a nice victory after a lesser Keiheuvel.
When the going gets tough the tough get going! Although the organization had done everything it could to prepare the track as best as possible, the afternoon course - from the Beloften series onwards - took the full brunt. Add to that the slippery surface and you understand that it became a kind of holiday on ice.
However, there was also sporting spectacle. In the first heat, Jilani Cambré led the pack. Kevin Fors did well to finally take control in the third round. Cambré tried to hit back but ended up a little too tight on the inside and bit into the sand.
Kevin Van Geldorp then took up the challenge against Fors. Starting fourth, Kevin moved well to the front but was unable to close the gap with the former Belgian MX2 champion. Jens Van Meer set the fastest lap in the race, but had to settle for third place just behind Van Geldorp. An excellent Wesley Dieudonné was the first quarter liter for host Kenny Janssens. The difference between numbers two and three in the Inters 250 - Kristof Scheynen (photo below) and Brent Aerden - was less than half a second!
The fact that it had stopped raining for a while before the decisive second heat turned out to be a false alarm. During the restart it started to rain again. Several riders had also chosen not to start again. However, BeTeMo driver Jens Van Meer controlled authoritatively and was in the lead from start to finish. The lap times were now about 15 to 16 seconds higher than those in race one. Fors finished second by more than eight seconds.
In the chase, Dieudonné in particular demanded attention. He steered his KTM SX250F smoothly around the Grootveldstraat circuit and even achieved the fastest lap times at the end of the series. He won at the Inters 250 ahead of Brent Aerden (3-2) and Kristof Scheynen (2-3).
In the sidecars, their victory in race two gave the duo Marco Briers/Kenny Van Den Plas (photo below) the overall victory at the expense of the duo Nick Janssens/Dave Goris.
