New environmental permit for circuit in Lommel
Zuhal Demir, the Flemish Minister of the Environment, has issued an environmental permit for the motocross circuit “de Heeserbergen” in Lommel. However, this is under strict conditions.
That environmental permit was granted in April of last year, but then a complaint came from a local resident. However, a favorable opinion was received from the Nature and Forest Agency, the Lommel Board of Aldermen and the Regional Environmental Licensing Committee.
However, the permit for the circuit will only be possible under conditions that are completely inspired by noise pollution. For example, there must be a berm around the entire circuit that is 6 meters high and between 20 and 60 meters wide. It must also be provided with shrubs and trees.
The opening hours during the week should be between 13 p.m. and 19 p.m. On weekends the circuit must close at 18 p.m. A maximum of ten events may take place per year and the above hours may be deviated from. It must also be closed one day a week and one Sunday a month.
