Lotte Van Drunen and Coenen bros shine in Rookie's Cup
The 3As Rookie's Cup in Sables d'Olonne has quickly become a household name for youth riders. Moreover, it is always good to perform well there. Last weekend several lowlanders were in the spotlight during the 10th edition.
In the 125cc, 9MMx Bud Racing Kawasaki duo Sacha and Lucas Coenen continued the line of the French championship. Sacha won the first heat and the final, Lucas won the second and finished after his brother in the final. A logical 1 – 2 for the Brussels twins, with Adrien Petit in third.
Just before her 14th birthday, Lotte van Drunen captured a nice podium in the 85cc in the Rookie's Cup. Here too, the value ratios were respected because Mathis Valin, who dominates the French 85cc championship, won ahead of Paolo Maschio and Van Drunen. Lotte of course won among the girls and even came second in the final.
Ian Ampoorter did not have his happiest weekend in the Vendée. The KTM VRT Nordpesca Holland rider had two starting crashes, meaning he had to settle for an overall 12th place. His best result was 5th place in the first race on Sunday. Want to drive yourself in the Rookie's Cup next year? Then check here the website. Highly recommended!
