Jett Lawrence brings the deficit to four points
Eight points behind Justin Cooper, Jett Lawrence started the eighth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship 250MX. The Honda rider wins the race in New Berlin and reduces the gap to just four points. Cooper (1-4) finishes second ahead of Jeremy Martin (3-2). Not a good match for Hunter Lawrence, he loses a lot of points and is only one point ahead of Martin!
1st heat:
From pole position, Cooper gets off to a great start and the Yamaha rider takes the lead ahead of Lawrence, 'J Mart' and Suzuki rider Dilan Schwartz! The winner of the previous match tries to pass the 18-year-old Lawrence but is unable to. The Australian manages to keep his title rival in view for a long time, but in the last 10 minutes Cooper takes distance. The victory goes to 23-year-old Cooper, who is doing good business. Lawrence settles for second place ahead of Martin. RJ Hampshire briefly tries to displace Martin from third place, but he does not give up. The Husqvarna rider comes fourth ahead of Hunter Lawrence who manages to decide a battle with Maximis Vohland in his favor.
2st heat:
Cooper also managed to get the best start in the second moto ahead of Martin, Jett Lawrence, Hampshire and Seth Hammaker who is back from his injury. Martin immediately increases the pressure but Cooper doesn't bend and Lawrence watches as does Hampshire. Then Martin manages to take over the lead and Lawrence also passes Cooper who later also sees Hampshire pass. Lawrence manages to take the lead after more than ten minutes of the match and then he doesn't look back. The 'Aussie' wins the heat and the day's classification and thus his second day victory of the year. Martin comes second ahead of Hampshire, Cooper and Maximus Vohland!
Next time:
The ninth of twelve games is not long in coming. The stars will be back in action next week when the points will be distributed at the Budds Creek Motocross Track.
