Successful Keiheuvel for JM Honda Racing!
Leader Henry Jacobi finished third yesterday after former winners Glenn Coldenhoff and Jeffrey Herlings. However, Yentel Martens also held his own in Balen and finished sixth. Michele Cervellin, ever closer to his usual form, finished ninth in the first heat!
Jacobi was among the faster men all day, which resulted in a nice third place with a 4-3 score. Yentel Martens performed well in the strong international group with a sixth place (5-7). Because Cervellin did not score in the second moto, he had to settle for fourteenth place in the daily rankings.
At the end of the day, a super final was scheduled in which the best fifteen riders from the MX2 competed against the best fifteen riders from the MX1 class. The circuit had become very tough in the meantime, but this did not stop the drivers from giving it their all once again. Jacobi rode in fourth place for a long time, but due to a small slide he finished fifth. Martens started just outside the top five, but an error in the initial phase saw him drop back to twelfth place. He recovered well and managed to finish the super final in eleventh place.
Jacky Martens (team manager JM Honda Racing): “It was a very good day for us. This week we found something again that worked out well here in Balen and with which we have taken a step forward. Jacobi did great in the sand and rode a high pace. Yentel performed well beyond expectations. Although he hasn't raced at this level for a long time, he competed very well in both heats! Cervellin is getting into his rhythm better and better and hopefully he can take another step in the next three weeks so that he can compete in the top fifteen of the World Cup again in Turkey."
