Draw for Ferrandis and Roczen
In Mechanicsville, Dylan Ferrandis and Ken Roczen neatly divided the points during the ninth race of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. The Star Racing Yamaha rider (2-1) won ahead of the Honda rider (1-2) but the difference between the two remains 39 points. Chase Sexton completed the podium at the Budds Creek Motocross Track.
1e some
The best start goes to Cooper Webb ahead of Tomac and Roczen. The German clearly has a mission and he quickly manages to gain control. Tomac has some work to do with Webb but once he is passed the Kawasaki rider seems to be breaking free. Sexton thinks differently and, after Webb, he also passes Tomac for second place within three corners. Roczen already has a seven second lead and it seems to be an easy race. However, Ferrandis has other plans and the Frenchman is coming back strong. He has a small advantage due to Sexton's fall and the deficit to Roczen is completely eliminated. It is exciting until the checkered flag when Roczen wins for the Frenchman and Tomac. Sexton takes fourth place ahead of Webb.
2e some
Roczen starts the second heat as the leader ahead of Webb, Ferrandis, Sexton and Tomac. Once again, Roczen immediately hits a shot that he manages to extend to more than three seconds. Sexton gives his teammate support by tracking down Ferrandis and Webb. However, the Frenchman follows in the shadow of Sexton and just in the first half of the race the leader takes over second place. Then little by little he comes closer to Roczen who now has no answer. Ferrandis takes the lead and not only wins the second round but also the overall classification. Roczen finishes second ahead of Sexton, Tomac and Marvin Musquin who negotiated a contract with KTM for 2022.
Next time:
Three more competitions to go and they will now be held every weekend. The tenth race of the series of twelve will be next Saturday at the Crawfordsville circuit.
