Participant list GP Sidecars Jinin announced!
This weekend the 2021 Grand Prix season for sidecars will finally get underway. The first Grand Prix will take place in Jinin, in the south-west of the Czech Republic. The list of participants for this first GP has just been announced.
There are 29 sidecars on the list, which is slightly smaller than we were used to before the global Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic is therefore indirectly a cause of the meager list. Another cause can be found in injuries that normal World Cup participants have already suffered here and there. For example, British crack Brett Wilkinson cannot participate due to a long-term shoulder injury.
Traditionally, there are always many Dutch people on the list and now the Low Countries are again the main supplier. 12 Dutch sidecars will compete for the World Championship, with the sidecars of Bax/Musset, Hermans/Janssens and Veldman/Cermak being serious candidates for the title.
Belgium brings three sidecars to Jinin, with Vanluchene/Bax as contenders for the title already in top form and having already taken victories in the French, Dutch and Belgian championships.
Other contenders for top positions are the Estonian/Finnish combination of Varik/Kunnas, the British Brown/Millard and the Swiss Heinzer/Betschart. But sidecars from the Benelux not previously mentioned here also have a chance of a good ranking. Van Werven/Van den Boogaart, Willemsen/Rietman and Sanders/Badaire are names that are more often found at the front in sidecar cross.
The first GP heat will take place on Saturday afternoon and heats 2 and 3 will follow on Sunday. Naturally, MXmag will keep you informed of the sidecar GP spectacle in the Czech Republic.
If you would like to see the best sidecars in the world live in Jinin, a more than 800 kilometer drive from the Dutch and Belgian borders, you are welcome there. The cheapest option to stay overnight with a weekend ticket for the GP is 40 euros. All information about this and reservations can be found at fimsidecarcross.com.
