Best season performance from Mikkel Haarup
Mikkel Haarup managed to score well on the sand circuit of Kegums during the seventh Grand Prix of the season. The F&H Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team rider finished seventh in the daily standings. Mikkel crossed the finish line in seventh and ninth. The race went less well for Mathys Boisrame, he was certainly not satisfied with an eleventh and fifteenth place and he dropped back to seventh place in the standings. Maxime Renaux wins both heats and increases his lead in the title fight.
1st Heat:
In the time training, Mikkel shows that he feels good on this sandy circuit. The Dane gets off to a good start and starts the race in sixth place, Mathys follows in seventh place. In the first full lap, Mikkel managed to improve and passed the pit lane in fifth position. Mathys manages to hold onto seventh place for the first half of the race. The Frenchman then had a difficult time and dropped back to tenth place. This can hold the Leatt-clad rider for a long time, but a mistake causes Langenfelder to pass, causing Mathys to cross the finish line in eleventh place. Mikkel manages to hold on to fifth place for 25 minutes, but then Benistant and Vialle arrive. They compete with each other and manage to pass Mikkel, but with seventh place the 19-year-old rider achieved his best performance of this season.
2st Heat:
Mikkel gets off to a very good start in the second moto and dives into the first corner shoulder to shoulder with Guadagnini. The Italian narrowly takes the holeshot award ahead of Mikkel and Renaux. A fierce battle for second place immediately ensues and the Kawasaki rider makes some small mistakes. As a result, he loses places in the initial phase of the competition. Teammate Mathys also passes by and chases fellow countryman Benistant. He wants a little too much and halfway through the heat the 23-year-old rider crashes. Mikkel drives a neat race and manages to cross the finish line in ninth place. Fortunately, Mathys is able to continue and crosses the finish line in 15th place. With this he scores important points, but unfortunately he loses places in the standings.
Next game:
After four games in a row, there will now be a small summer break. The Grand Prix season continues on September 5 with the Turkish GP. A double GP will be held there because the World Cup circus will be in action again on September 8.
