Important double for Ken Roczen
The eighth race of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship was won by Ken Roczen. The Honda rider managed to win both heats in New Berlin, making up points on Dylan Ferrandis. The Frenchman loses eight points to the German, who is now 39 points behind. During the Unadilla Motocross, Marvin Musquin completes his European success in the USA, the Frenchman finishes third in the overall standings.
1st heat:
After the fastest training time earlier in the day, Roczen starts the first heat well. The former MX2 world champion comes out of the first corner as the leader and he will not relinquish this position. Aaron Plessinger manages to keep the pressure on for a long time, but the Yamaha rider then crashes hard. This helps Ferrandis finish second ahead of Eli Tomac, Musquin and his teammate Webb.
2st heat:
The best start during the second moto goes to Chase Sexton. The Honda rider wins the Motorsport.com Holeshot Award ahead of Webb, Roczen and Ferrandis. The winner of the first moto quickly leaves his supercross rival behind to follow his teammate. After ten minutes, Sexton makes a mistake that puts him under pressure from his 27-year-old teammate. The first attack is an immediate hit and Roczen takes over the lead. After two laps Sexton has to let go and Roczen also wins the second round. Sexton completes the success for Honda and Ferrandis finishes third. Musquin and his KTM colleague Webb complete the top five.
Next time:
The ninth of twelve games is not long in coming. The stars will be back in action next week when the points will be distributed at the Budds Creek Motocross Track.
