Victory for Sjef Platte in Geldermalsen
The day after the race in Berghem, the MON youth motocross riders took action again in Geldermalsen. In the MX2 youth class it was Sjef Platte who took the victory. Platte led the field from the start in the first moto and quickly gained a lead to end the moto with a lead of 25 seconds.
Alec Blokland started the moto in fifth place and slowly but surely drove his way to the front. Halfway through the heat he took over second place, but Platte had already built up a lead. Blokland had no choice but to secure second place. Championship leader Eric van Helvoirt had a bad start to the heat. After two laps he was even tenth and a podium seemed far away. In the remainder of the heat, Van Helvoirt rode strongly and managed to return to third place in the heat. Silvio van der Rijt had a good start to the heat with a second place. However, he lost some ground on the faster competitors every lap, eventually ending up in fourth place in the heat. Jippe Selen completed the top five. Coming from eighth place, Selen rode a stable race to take over fifth place from Simon van den Berg after eight laps. Selen was still close to fourth place, but was just one or two laps short.
Due to the weather conditions, the race was only held in one round.
