VLM Pulderbos: Yentel Martens dominates
Guest rider Yentel Martens (JM Honda Racing) left no doubt in Pulderbos who was the strongest rider of the day. Martens won both series with superior power. Kevin Fors and Jilani Cambré (2nd and 3rd each) completed the podium in the inters 500cc.
Prior to the 'off-weekend' on the occasion of the Belgian GP, MC De Kempen, led by Jos Van Loock and Chris Van Erk, hosted the third round of the Flemish championship. During the time training the quarter liters seized power this morning. Brent Aerden took pole ahead of Wesley Dieudonne, Yentel Martens, Jens Van Meer and Kevin Fors.
In the first series, Yentel Martens, on the other hand, immediately took the lead. Under the watchful eye of MXGP teammate Michele Cervellin, Yentel took the gang in tow. Jilani Cambre and Arno Van Mieghem followed in second and third while Kevin Fors shook the tree vigorously to move forward. Fors, winner of the MCLB classic in Middelkerke on Wednesday, set the fastest lap of the race early on. He first passed Van Mieghem and then Cambré halfway through the race. However, closing the gap with Martens was no longer an option. A regular Kevin Van Geldorp finished fifth, while Jens Van Meer dropped out of the top 5 after a fall, but ultimately managed to limit the damage with sixth place.
Iron-eater Jordi Van Mieghem was back in action after his fall last weekend. He finished 7th in the 500cc in series one.
For the second series, Martens used the same recipe as in the first. He took another holeshot and piloted his CRF450R to a smooth start-finish victory. Fors (photo above) was immediately following in Martens' wake. However, the end result turned out to be a copy of the opener. The two ex-Belgian MX2 champions were separated by 8 seconds at the finish. Cambre was 4 seconds further ahead while Van Meer now finished fourth ahead of Van Geldorp and Arno Van Mieghem.
In the 250cc, Wesley Dieudonne (photo above) confirmed his class. The KTM rider again became the best quarter-litre, good for 7th overall, although Brent Aerden did not make an appearance either. After all, he finished second for a second time in the 2500cc class - and finished 8th overall. Marnick Lagrou (4-3) needed a stronger second series to keep Kristof Scheynen (3-4) off the podium.
