Fourth win of the season for Ferrandis
The fifth race of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship was also won by Dylan Ferrandis. It is the fourth day's victory this season for the Yamaha rider, who crossed the finish line first and third at the Southwick circuit. The Star Racing rider won ahead of Honda rider Ken Roczen (4-2) and TLD rider Justin Barcia (2-4). In the standings, Ferrandis has increased his lead to 19 points.

In practice, Adam Cianciarulo is the fastest man, but the Kawasaki rider comes out of the first corner in sixth position. Barcia and Aaron Plessinger battle for the best start but Ferrandis slips in and takes the Motorsport.com Holeshot Award. Plessinger takes second place but he quickly sees Barcia pass. The GasGas rider tries to keep the leader in sight, but Ferrandis is too fast. He quickly builds up a lead and wins the first heat. Barcia is second to Plessinger who manages to keep the pressure on throughout the match. Roczen came out of the first corner in eighth place and quickly worked his way up to fifth place. Only well into the second half of the match can the German take over fourth place from Cianciarulo. The Kawasaki rider completes the top five in this moto.

After his poor first round, Roczen gets off to a good start in the second round. Cooper Webb wins the Motorsport.com Holeshot Award but the Honda rider quickly takes over. The 27-year-old rider is clearly looking forward to it because after one lap he already has a lead of more than three seconds! Plessinger has now returned to the pits with machine problems. Marvin Musquin, the winner here in 2018 and 2019, briefly holds third place, but Cianciarulo quickly passes. Both Eli Tomac and Ferrandis have not had the best start but both are coming forward quickly. The Kawasaki rider will look for the leader in the standings. After more than ten minutes, the three-time champion manages to pass Ferrandis, after which his arrows are aimed at leader Roczen. This one has a big lead, but Tomac has a high pace. He is sometimes four seconds faster per lap and he quickly takes over the lead. Tomac wins ahead of Roczen and Ferrandis. The Yamaha rider has a smoking engine but that doesn't stop him from finishing third! With this he also wins the overall and increases his lead in the standings. Barcia finished fourth, which gave him third place in the daily rankings. Webb completes the top five this moto.
